Bluey is a gorgeous 1 year old boy who is still discovering what life has to offer. He has had a very sheltered start in life, spending his first eight months living in a flat with his mum and two siblings. Because he had very little exposure to the outside world during this important stage, many everyday experiences are still completely new to him.
When Bluey first came to us, he was frightened to even go for a walk. But with patience, reassurance and lots of encouragement, he is making wonderful progress and becoming more confident every day. He is learning that the world isn’t such a scary place and is beginning to enjoy exploring his surroundings. Bluey can be wary of strangers, particularly men, and will need someone who understands that trust takes time. However, once he learns that you are the person who brings the walks, food, fun and playtime, his whole personality comes out.
He becomes a loving, affectionate and incredibly kissy boy who absolutely adores cuddles from the people he trusts. He is a playful, energetic young dog with plenty of enthusiasm for life. He loves to have fun and would enjoy an active home where he can continue to explore, learn and burn off some of that youthful energy. Equally, once he is comfortable with you, he is more than happy to curl up for some affection and enjoy a good cuddle. Bluey is dog friendly, although he has only ever really known his own mum and siblings, so he is still learning how to interact appropriately with unfamiliar dogs.
He can sometimes be quite dominant with dogs who are more timid than him, so some positive socialisation classes would be hugely beneficial. These would help him learn good canine manners, build his confidence and develop positive experiences with a variety of dogs. He is also learning his basic commands and is proving to be a clever boy who is keen to learn. With the right person, plenty of patience and consistent, positive training, we believe Bluey has so much potential.
