Marnie

***Marnie is now RESERVED, we are no longer accepting applications, thank you***

Marnie is new to Homeless Hounds and is currently in foster and is thriving in the home living with the resident dog.

Marnie is a 7 year old chocolate fawn French Bulldog. She loves people and quickly attaches herself to one person so it will be best to ensure all in the household take turns walking, feeding and cuddling her so she does not fixate on just one person. She likes to sit with you on the sofa. She will sleep on your bed or in a dog bed, whichever you prefer.

Marnie can pull slightly on a short lead due to excitement and training is ongoing. She has been walking 3 to 3 ½ miles a day spread over 3 walks and walks beautifully however on a long extending lead.
On walks she will become very alert and bark at some dogs but not others – once again training around this will have to continue. She has a selection of toys and picks one up to run and greet you. She has been clean in the house with toileting late evening and early morning and regular intervals during the day.

Marnie has been living with another small dog. She has also walked with a range of dogs once introductions have been made in a controlled way. She has shown signs that she would chase livestock and cats so must be kept on a lead around them.
Marnie enjoys going in the car. Can occasionally whine with excitement at the start but soon settles.
Keep an eye on her because she will eat cat and sheep poop. She understands the command “leave it”. In the home she hoovers up any food scraps that fall to the floor so the “leave it” command comes in handy here too.
Marnie will initially bark when someone comes to the door but soon quietens and her eyesight and hearing seem good.
Loud noises don’t seem to affect her, but we do not yet know how she will respond to fireworks on bonfire night.

A sweet and loving little dog. I have only left her for very short periods (and in the company of my other dog) and she was okay. There was a report from her previous fosterer to say Marnie had chewed a wooden object on one occasion when left home alone.

Marnie did have a couple of cancerous tumours removed when she first arrived at Homeless Hounds but has since made a full recovery. Full details can be disclosed to any applicant.

To adopt Marnie, please complete our adoption application form. We welcome applications from across Lancashire but unfortunately we are unable to consider applications from further afield.
