Baloo

Baloo is currently in foster care; this is what his foster mum has to say about him:

Baloo is a big dog, with a big heart! It is an absolute pleasure fostering him. He gets on well with our two resident dogs, he enjoys playing with them, cuddling up with them, and takes a lot of confidence from them when out on walks. However, Baloo can sometimes food guard or grumble about sharing affection from his fosterers with the other dogs. This is being managed and he is improving but it would need to be carefully managed with training if he was to be rehomed with another dog.

When initially meeting news dogs on his lead he can be jumpy and barky so does need steady introductions. Baloo can be nervous in new situations and can find busy roads and/or lots of people overwhelming but this is something we’re working on with him. When unsure or nervous, Baloo pulls away from the situation or sits down and refuses to move. Due to his size, he is very strong so is looking for someone who is confident in handling him on lead as his confidence continues to grow. In the home Baloo loves cuddling up on the sofa, playing with his toys (he’s a strong chewer!) and playing with the other dogs. He likes to be close to you when you’re at home but is fine being left for 4-5hours, this has always been done with our other dogs so we would recommend this be gradually built up in a new home.

We also have cats who he gets on well with most of the time. He will occasionally chase them if they’re running but we are working on stopping that. Baloo has also shown that he is great around children, but doesn’t realise quite how big he is so would be better suited with older children that he’s less likely to accidentally knock over! Baloo is a gorgeous boy who steals the hearts of everyone he meets with his handsome good looks and sweet personality, whoever adopts him with be very lucky to have him in their lives.
