***Ozzy is now RESERVED, we are no longer accepting applications, thank you***
Ozzy is a young black male terrier who was terrified when he first came in to us. He is a complex character and therefore needs an understanding home with a patient owner as he is showing great promise and progress and we are keen for this to continue. He needs to be with someone who is very active and who will help with him with his anxiety.
He is initially standoffish when meeting new people but once he bonds to his human, he’s very affectionate. He is a little whirlwind with lots of energy and he is very good with other dogs although he can be a little over enthusiastic and boisterous. He is currently living with four other dogs in his foster home and this is going well, although he will growl when they try to pinch his food! Applicants should also note that his housetraining is a work in progress and will need more training.
Ozzy will also need someone home a lot of the time to help him build trust and learn that he is ok to be left. Ozzy wouldn’t suit anyone who works away from home and who may have to leave him for several hours from the word go. Ozzy sleeps in a crate at night and goes in his crate for the very short periods he can currently be left. Due to Ozzy’s anxiety, we would only rehome him where any resident children are older, dog savvy and where any resident or visiting children understand that Ozzy has to be allowed to approach them in his own time when he feels comfortable to do so.
At present Ozzy will growl if he feels threatened by unfamiliar humans and it is important that all members of the household appreciate this and give him time and space to come round in his own time. We don’t think Ozzy can be rehomed with cats as he is prone to chasing the cats in his foster home – although he has been nose to nose with them behind a child gate.

To adopt Ozzy, please complete an Adoption Application form and we will be in touch.
Please note that Homeless Hounds welcomes applications from Lancashire but unfortunately we are unable to consider applications from further afield. Homeless Hounds cannot rehome dogs to families with children under 5 years old.
