Ricky is a wonderful 12-month-old Chow cross who came into our care after his owner took him to the vets to be put to sleep because of food aggression issues. But please don’t let that be the only thing you hear about Ricky… because he has SO much going for him. Ricky is delightful, happy and full of the joys of spring. He absolutely loves people, is fantastic on his walks and is dog friendly when out and about. He’s a lovely young dog with bags of personality and so much potential. We are looking for a very specific home for Ricky:
Ricky must be the ONLY dog in the home. We don’t want any potential food-related skirmishes.
There must be NO young children or visiting children. This is an important part of keeping Ricky, and everyone around him, safe and comfortable.
Ricky does have an issue with food guarding/aggression, and his new family will need to be committed to working with him. Any successful adopter will receive FULL BEHAVIOURAL SUPPORT from us, including advice and a structured plan to help them manage and work on Ricky’s food-related issues.
And then there are those gorgeous locks! Ricky’s beautiful coat will require ongoing professional grooming. His new family should be prepared for grooming appointments approximately every 6–8 weeks to keep him looking and feeling his best. Ricky isn’t going to be the right dog for everyone – and that’s okay. What we’re looking for is the RIGHT person or family who understands his needs, is prepared to put the work in, and will give this lovely young boy the chance he deserves. He has already had a difficult start to life, but at just 12 months old, Ricky has his whole future ahead of him.
