Teddy is 11 years old and came into us through no fault of his own.
When Teddy came in, he was very overweight but he was lucky enough to find a fosterer who has helped him lose weight and build up his stamina and muscle mass. Teddy is looking for a new owner who will continue the good work done by the fosterer and who will help Teddy get to and maintain his ideal weight. Teddy has made fantastic progress and is all the happier for it.
Since living with his current fosterer, Teddy has really come out of his shell and is now a very sociable happy dog. He loves meeting people and other dogs and is happy to receive as much attention as he can get! He has been building up the length of his walks gradually and is now enjoying several walks a day. Teddy is very intelligent and eager to learn, is fully house trained and is the perfect house guest.
Teddy likes the company of children but we would be looking to rehome Teddy where any resident children were old enough to understand that Teddy will sometimes need his own space. Teddy is very happy to sit beside his fosterer’s grandchild and keep him company and we understand that he has previously lived with children.
Whilst Teddy loves most humans, he hates going to see the vet and the groomer. He needs vet prescribed sedatives before each visit and may need to be muzzled at the vets. He is particularly resistant to any attempts to groom him round the leg area and therefore visits to a professional grooming salon is essential to keep Teddy properly groomed.
At present Teddy is on daily painkiller medication as he seemed to be in discomfort when he first came in to us due to his obesity – however, the necessity of continuing this will be reviewed as he continues to lose weight.
