Theodore came into our care with his two siblings and his mum, after their previous owner was no longer able to meet their needs. His mum and dad are pointer crosses and you can see the pointer in Theo by the markings on his chest. He is now one year old.
What makes Theodore’s story particularly heartbreaking is how little of the world he has ever known. He had spent his entire life living in an upstairs flat and, incredibly, we were told that he had never been outside since the day he was born. When our wonderful volunteer went to collect him, Theodore didn’t even know how to walk down the stairs – he had to be carried.
And yet, despite everything he has missed out on, Theodore is the sweetest, gentlest boy. He just needs someone who will understand that the world is all very new to him. We think Theodore would really benefit from having another kind, confident dog in his new home. A canine friend who can show him the way and help him with his ongoing socialisation.
Theodore would be best in a home where any children are older – he does need gradual introductions to new experiences – with time patience and training, Theodore will make a wonderful pet. Theodore has spent a happy hour at a volunteer’s home and has shown no interest in her cats. We think that with careful monitoring Theo would be able to live with cats in his new home. In addition, he travels well in the car and has been clean in the house.
